Moriarty Clan history
A research project dedicated to the history of the
Moriaty Clan in Ireland and around the world is on
the way.
The project is envisaged to take 3 years with the aim
of publishing the work in lavish book form in due course.
A special steering group has been set up to support
the work, principally to fundraise to cover the €30,000
per annum work.
Financial assistance can be rendered by contacting
Con Moriarty on con@hiddenirelandtours.com.
It is hoped that the first tranch of work will be presented
at the clan gathering in October.

Guidelines for Moriarty research in Ireland
Initial enquiry.
A brief letter or email is the best approach to begin
with. You should have sufficient research done
in your own country to be able to supply specifics
such as: -
(1) County of birth of your ancestor.
(2) The religion practiced by your ancestor while living
in Ireland. This is important as each religion
has its own archive.
Civil registration of Marriages for members of Protestant
religions commenced in 1845. All others commenced in
1864.
(3) The Civil Parish where your ancestor was born would
be helpful.
(4) The name of a town land if possible would help
to speed up research and ensure you were dealing
with the correct family.
